Artistic Preparation of the Concert

The festival has been responsible for the concert’s complete artistic preparation – from developing its musical concept and designing the programme, to selecting the performers, coordinating rehearsals, and providing artistic supervision throughout the production.

The result will be a concert that thoughtfully connects Bratislava’s coronation heritage with masterpieces of European sacred music.

A special place in the programme is devoted to Franz Liszt and his Hungarian Coronation Mass, a work that naturally reflects both the historical significance of St. Martin’s Cathedral and the composer’s deep ties to Bratislava.

The programme is further enriched by works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Louis Vierne, and Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský.

The life and legacy of Franz Liszt – his extraordinary music, as well as his family and cultural ties to Bratislava – form the central theme of the Franz Liszt Festival – festival3cities, which will take place in October 2026.

The partnership with the organisers of the Bratislava Coronation Days marks an important milestone for the Franz Liszt Festival – festival3cities.

It confirms that, even before its inaugural edition, the festival is already building meaningful collaborations with respected cultural institutions and major events that share a common ambition: to celebrate Bratislava’s exceptional historical and cultural heritage and present it to the public through artistic excellence.
