His Beethoven double CD featuring sonatas such as the <em>Appassionata<\/em> and <em>Waldstein<\/em> was awarded six stars by <em>Piano News<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Major Liszt Edition<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>A landmark release by Boris Bloch is a six-CD collection dedicated to Franz Liszt, featuring the complete cycles <em>Ann\u00e9es de p\u00e8lerinage<\/em> and <em>Harmonies po\u00e9tiques et religieuses<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Roots in Odessa and Studies in Moscow<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>Boris Bloch was born in Odessa, present-day Ukraine, and studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Tatiana Nikolaeva and, above all, Dimitri Bashkirov. In 1978 he won <strong>First Prize<\/strong> at the International Ferruccio Busoni Piano Competition in Bolzano.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Professorship in Germany and Pedagogical Influence<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>Since 1985, Bloch has lived in Germany, where he served as Professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts. In 2007 he received the <strong>Pedagogy Prize of the City of Duisburg<\/strong>. Among his distinguished students are Evgeni Bozhanov, Vladimir Kharin, Eduard Kiprsky, Peter Jozha, and the late Nikolaus Lahusen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Honorary Member of the Austrian Liszt Society<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>In March 2018, Boris Bloch was awarded honorary membership of the Austrian Liszt Society in recognition of his outstanding contribution to preserving and promoting Franz Liszt&#8217;s artistic legacy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Concert Activity in the USA and Europe<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>After winning the prestigious <em>Young Concert Artists<\/em> auditions in 1976, Bloch performed with leading American orchestras in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Houston, New Orleans, Phoenix, Indianapolis, and New Jersey. In Europe, he has appeared with La Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice, the RAI and RSO orchestras, the Vienna Tonk\u00fcnstler Orchestra, and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Appearances at International Festivals<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>He has been a guest at internationally renowned festivals including <em>Klavierfestival Ruhr<\/em>, <em>Beethovenfest Bonn<\/em>, Lucerne Festival, Stresa Festival, Flanders Festival, Istanbul Festival, Bologna&#8217;s <em>I Grandi Interpreti<\/em>, the Berlin Festival Weeks, the Chopin Festivals in Duszniki-Zdr\u00f3j and Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b, and the Carinthian Summer Festival.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Recent Concert Engagements and Jury Activities<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>Recent appearances include the Liszt Festival in Raiding, the Liszt Biennale Thuringia, festivals in Verona and Noto, concerts with the Duisburg Philharmonic, and the <em>Master Pianists<\/em> series of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. He has also performed at Mozarthaus Vienna, Konzerthaus Berlin, Teatro Nacional de S\u00e3o Carlos in Lisbon, the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, Cologne, Warsaw, and the Essen Philharmonic. Bloch has served as Chairman of the Jury in Verona and as juror in Sacile (Venezia Giulia) and Seregno. In June 2024, he once again served on the jury of the Robert Schumann International Piano Competition in Zwickau.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<strong>Recent CD Accolades<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<p>His Bach double CD was selected as one of the <strong>Top 10 Recordings of the Month<\/strong> by the Spanish music magazine <em>RITMO<\/em>. Other acclaimed double-CD releases include eight Beethoven sonatas and works by Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Chopin.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>His latest album, <em>Chopin\u2026<\/em>, was released by Gramola in 2025.
